Re: report for hosts and services not in groups
You also run the risk that the database schema changes between releases. The API exists to make sure you always have a supported method of getting information. I'd suggest you switch to it rather the SQL queries.

Re: Custom script Output
OP should hire EverWatch to write the filter for them.

Re: rsyslog
Hire EverWatch to set up a Nagios monitor on your box with an event handler to restart the service if it's not running.

Re: Nagios XI - Missing "Login" button
I'm not sure of an official upgrade path from older versions like that, but lots have changed. Our recommendations are to go to the last release for each major version (2012 -> xi-2014r2.7 -> xi-5r1.0 -> xi-5.2.9 -> xi-5.3.3 -> etc) to avoid massive jumps that may have left something behind. Optiona...

Re: MySQL Query for Hosts/Services/Threshold/Contacts
Quick spin through the API (compared to what's in the config and the objects.cache file) shows that the API does NOT return the contact information for hosts and services. I consider this a bug, personally.

Re: Nagios XI - Missing "Login" button
Sorry, I got nothing. 5.7 is really old (released three years ago) and we don't have any servers running that version to test on, let alone upgrade from 2012R2 (from 10 years ago!) . I don't suppose you have a backup and can restore to it and start over? I'd go incrementally through the release vers...

Re: MySQL Query for Hosts/Services/Threshold/Contacts
Functionally, it would be the same as parsing the objects.cache file, but yeah, that works too.

Re: MySQL Query for Hosts/Services/Threshold/Contacts
The database schema is subject to change between releases. The configuration file format is not. So you are more likely to have to recreate this work if you go the SQL route than if you do text parsing on the resultant config files. After all - the information in the database is written to the confi...

Re: MySQL Query for Hosts/Services/Threshold/Contacts
You may find it easier to look at the configuration files, not the database. Especially since the database schema is subject to potential change between releases. Take a look at /usr/local/nagios/var/objects.cache and you'll see every host and service pulled out with its complete, reduced configurat...

Re: report for hosts and services not in groups
Nice! That's pretty much what I was suggesting. And I love it when someone else does the work for me.
