Re: Nagios plugin for SMART monitoring HP drive array
@xpac, did you find any HP-specific plugins for your needs? Sorry I've been working on a bunch of other things that took priority, but now I'm back to this. I'm gonna try this plugin: http://www.claudiokuenzler.com/nagios-plugins/check_smart.php#.VDQSj00tCHt it seems to be relatively recent and whi...

NRPE command errors in web interface
So I set up an Nagios server and added a few hosts that will be monitored in my test environment. I just followed a regular plain jane install and haven't added any plugins yet. When I look at the first remote host in the web interface under "View Status Detail for this Host" I see a few s...

So why does the server show up as localhost?
This is more a theory behind it question, why does the Nagios server show up in the list of hostnames as "localhost" and not by its proper name? Do people just add an entry for the host separately so that these is both a localhost and the actual name of the host entry? Earlier I asked abou...

Re: I want the Nagios server to stop calling itself localhos
What I should say, is that if I add the proper hostname for the server and IP address in the hosts.cfg file it shows up as a host but localhost still stays as well which makes sense because I assume its reading that from the localhosts.cfg. But if I try to change localhost to the proper name/IP addr...

I want the Nagios server to stop calling itself localhost...
I assumed this was a fairly straight forward thing to do but I can't figure it out. After googling I've found a ton of different opinions, none of which worked. Isn't there a simple way to do this?? So far I've only been able to add the server as a host but then it just shows the hostname and localh...

Re: Need help installng a plugin
Generally speaking virtual disks do not have SMART capabilities. Unless you're providing full, physical device passthrough to the VM. So I think that's what you're seeing here. You can always test to make sure it works by copying the perl script to your production boxes, and running the command tha...

Re: Need help installng a plugin
Ok, the errors I believe are specific to the plugin I'm trying to use and not to Nagios overall SO, it may be beyond the purpose of this forum unfortunately...but any help is greatly appreciated! :D Quick Background: Ultimately what I want to be able to do is add some kind of SMART monitoring of my ...

Re: Need help installng a plugin
Thanks, I at least got it "working" meaning at least it will run. It doesn't give me any useful output other than errors LOL, but so far I've tried 2 SMART plugins and neither of them give me anything useful...Back to the drawing board I guess.

Need help installng a plugin
Ok, So I'm starting to get the hang of this LOL, anyway I found a site with a plugin I would like to install on my test Nagios server, here is a link to the page: http://www.claudiokuenzler.com/nagios-plugins/check_smart.php#.U_5mlmOLHo5 My question is that he has a download check_smart.pl, which is...
