NagiosXI 2014R2.0 missing service configuration

Post by nagiosadmin42 »

Since upgrading to 2014R2.0, we've been seeing intermittent problems where service details are suddenly missing for hosts.

We first saw this problem with localhost, however this morning it is happening for other hosts.

If you navigate from Home / Host Detail, click on the localhost name, then select the Performance Graphs tab, you see graphs for services like CPU Load, Users, etc.

However, if you navigate from Home / Host Detail and click on the icon to "View service status details for this host", it says "No matching services found".

As far as I can tell, this morning it is happening for all hosts which use Active service checks. Those which report using Passive services appear to be fine.

Thanks,

Alan

What version did you upgrade from?
Is there a reason you did not upgrade to 2014r2.6 instead of 2014r2.0?

We were on a 2012 release I don't remember the version, and 2014R2.6 wasn't out yet.

We've discussed upgrading, however thought we'd report the problem to see if you're aware of it
before investing the time to do the upgrade.

FYI, I just used the Core Config Manager to delete a few duplicate Passive services and applied changes, and now those previously missing Active services are appearing.
