Nagios Core Install

Information and discussions relating to the NSTI (Nagios SNMP Trap Interface) addon.

Nagios Core Install

The INSTALL file says, "Move the proper index.php from dist/, used for differentiating between XI and Core installs." I think it should be header.php.core moved to the /usr/local/nsti to replace the header.php which is for XI.

The other thing to note is when using the ./install.py be careful as the default password for XI is different from core, so you will need to supply the password that was used for the root user of MySQL.

Otherwise the install went fine.

mikew, thanks for the feedback on that. I had re-arranged the install process and forgot to update INSTALL file, you're absolutely correct about the headers.php, will update that.

That install.py file is meant specifically for CentOS users who are using Nagios XI and will not work for Ubuntu users, I do have a checklist of items that need to done in the INSTALL file in the nsti directory, but I'm also working on a step by step installer, but for now that will have to do.

Hi, I'm seem to be getting an issue with my mysql db after installing nsti.
I followed the instructions on this page : http://www.bearisdrivingcar.com/nsti/do ... cheversion

Im running a debian 6 build on a xenserver vm, with nagios 3.4.1 installed.
The basics, i followed the instructions on the webpage above, the only differences i had were file locations.
So everything appeared to go fine.
until i actually tried to connect to localhost/nsti.
it stated that i couldnt connect to the db using the snmptt login, essentially wrong password.
so i tested all of that, password was set fine, etc.
Therefore i figured it wasnt picking up the changes i had made to the config.ini.php file.
So i attempted to restart the vm.

From there im getting errors starting the mysql db, and nfs-common mysql.
im getting these errors:

Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'
returned failure: nfs-common mysql

i have tried creating this file, giving it permissions etc.
Still wont start.

Just wondering if there may have been something im doing wrong?
also this is the second time ive tried to install nsti, same issue on reboot.

grobes,

So you're unable to start the mysql db now? That does seem strange. That sock should just be created whenever you start mysql and you should never have to create it yourself. Can you try deleting that mysql.sock and then try restarting mysql?
