Exchange 2010 Plugin Issue

Postby Nagios_User01 » Thu Jan 02, 2014 9:38 am

Hello! I am having a issue where I cannot get any MS Exchange 2010 scripts/plugins to work with Nagios XI. If I run the scripts manually or through the NSClient++ test they work. It looks like if I remove the "add-pssnapin microsoft.exchange.management.powershell.E2010" from the script it works but this is needed for exchange commands. Other powershell scripts/plugins work just fine. Thanks for you help!

Client OS Windows Server 2008 R2
NSClient++ v. 0.4.1.102-x64
Nagios XI Web test command output: "CHECK_NRPE: Received 0 bytes from daemon. Check the remote server logs for error messages."
NSClient++ error log: "Failed to send data: The file handle supplied is not valid"

What user is the nsclient service running as? My initial thought when adding snapins is either it times out due to the time required to add a snapin is generally greater than 30 seconds, or your user account does not have access to import that and query exchange properly. In addition to what user you are using, can you post the service and command definitions please.

The service account NSClient++ is running under has domain admin and Exchange Org rights until I get it up and running. This means it should have access to everything needed for exchange. Below is the nsclient.ini config and the command I am testing with using the NagiosXI web interface.

Nagios XI web interface command
$USER1$/check_nrpe -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -t 60 -c cih

nsclient.ini Config
Code: Select all
If you want to fill this file with all avalible options run the following command:
#   nscp settings --generate --add-defaults --load-all
# If you want to activate a module and bring in all its options use:
#   nscp settings --activate-module <MODULE NAME> --add-defaults
# For details run: nscp settings --help

; CheckDisk - CheckDisk can check various file and disk related things. The current version has commands to check Size of hard drives and directories.
CheckDisk = 1

; Event log Checker. - Check for errors and warnings in the event log. This is only supported through NRPE so if you plan to use only NSClient this wont help you at all.
CheckEventLog = 1

CheckExternalScripts = 1

; Helper function - Various helper function to extend other checks. This is also only supported through NRPE.

CheckWMI = 1

; NRPE server - A simple server that listens for incoming NRPE connection and handles them.

Ah you are using version 4.x.x, there were some big changes to Nsclient which made it quite inaccessible when trying to first set up. Please follow the guidelines in the .ini file's first few lines to expand your nsclient configuration file, then attach it here. Thanks!
Code: Select all
If you want to fill this file with all avalible options run the following command:
#   nscp settings --generate --add-defaults --load-all
# If you want to activate a module and bring in all its options use:
#   nscp settings --activate-module <MODULE NAME> --add-defaults
# For details run: nscp settings --help
