[Help] check_mem.sh plugin configuration

Hi Friends,

i am trying to configure check_mem.sh plugin to check my server memory usage.

I am able to telnet both servers from each other.

plugin is working for localhost (nagios server) but not working for my remote server(clinet)[ screenshot attcahed]

Please help me to configure it
I am getting error " NRPE: Command 'check_mem' not defined "

Here is my configuration :
Nagios Server nrpe.cfg
"command[check_mem]=/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_mem.sh -w 85 -c 90"
Nagios server commands.cfg ::

Can some one guide me to configure it?? I have some load performance test on linux(client) we want to monitor the server memory usage from nagios.

You need to check the remote hosts nrpe.cfg for the command. The nrpe.cfg on the nagios server will not apply to remote checks. Can you post the remote hosts nrpe.cfg?

Ah, you do not have that command defined in the remote hosts nrpe.cfg. Add the following line to the remote hosts nrpe.cfg and then restart nrpe/xinetd on the remote host:

hi abrist,

after adding the lines to remote host nrpe.cfg file, i restarted the services, but now i am getting error : "NRPE: Unable to read output "

any changes i have to do again on both server and remote client??

Are you using this memory check on any other hosts? It looks like you have an arg mismatch - the check expects the warning and critical thresholds to be passed:

command_line /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_mem.sh -w $ARG1$ -c $ARG2$
But the remote nrpe is configured with hard coded thresholds (like the nagios XI nrpe.cfg mem check):

command[check_mem]=/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_mem.sh -w 85 -c 90
If you are already using this nrpe check for other hosts, we should alter the remote host nrpe.cfg. If you are not using the mem check on any other hosts, you may want to decide if you want the thresholds configurable from the XI UI, or hard-coded into the remote hosts nrp.cfg configuration for the command.
