Monitoring a client with multiple public IP addresses

Post by ziedmahjoub »

Hi,
i have installed Nagios Core 4.0.8 and his plugins and i want to monitor a remote machine which change its Public IP address regularly ,
is it possible ? (Because i've seen in the cfg file that you can only put just one IP address)
and also i want to know if nagios can monitor smartphones .

Thanks .

You can also use fully qualified domain name in the address field.

If this is not setup, the only recommended method would be to use passive check sending result to your Nagios server.

This takes some addon's in Core like NRDP or NSCA, but in Nagios XI is all builtin by default.

Basically, it it changes ips, use dns or passives instead.

The "addons" mentioned were passive agents for pushing checks from the remote system.

As far as phone monitoring is concerned, I would start by searching the google play and iphone marketplaces for nagios supported monitoring agent applications.
