I tried upgrading my Nagios 3.5.1 installation to 4.0.0 today and Nagios will not start. This is on a CentOS 6.4 32 bit system.
I upgraded to 4.0.0 using the instructions at
http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/upgrading.html .
When I try to start Nagios it fails with the following lines in the nagios.log file:
Code: Select all
[1379959345] Error: Could not load module '/usr/local/lib/mk-livestatus/livestatus.o' -> /usr/local/lib/mk-livestatus/livestatus.o: undefined symbol: last_command_check
[1379959345] Error: Failed to load module '/usr/local/lib/mk-livestatus/livestatus.o'.
[1379959345] Error: Module loading failed. Aborting.
All my .cfg files check out as OK prior to my attempt to start Nagios.
I've rolled back to 3.5.1. Any ideas on how I can resolve this?
Thanks!

Are you using livestatus? If so, you may need to disable it until the mk devs update it to support core 4.

Thanks. I've disabled livestatus for now. Nagios 4.0.0 is working for me now.

Thanks for that. Very helpful
I could not remember where Check_mk was and now to disable it. I found it after half hour.
So to help and save time, # out the following lines in nagio.cfg (On my system it's here - /usr/local/nagios/etc).
# Load Livestatus Module
#broker_module=/usr/lib/check_mk/livestatus.o /usr/local/nagios/var/rw/live
#event_broker_options=-1

Excellent, I'm not sure when they will patch livestatus up to function with core 4 but I guess you'd need to watch their site.
