dwhitfield wrote:getnameinfo is simply stating that it could not resolve a dns name to an IP. Is your dns server accessible? As for the 5666...just try running the command without the 5666.
When you say you are running npre, is /usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_nrpe -H localhost the command you are using? If not, could you post the command?

I doubt this is the issue, but going through your history I notice you don't have the very first line, yum install -y gcc glibc glibc-common openssl-devel perl wget
Could you please work through https://support.nagios.com/kb/article.php?id=520 and then send the history again? It looks like you could post the history here if you just replace one useradd that has a -p. If you post it in the thread that means community members will also be able to help out.

This is still version 2.15. I thought you were going to install NRPE 3.0.1?
Please do this so the NRPE binary can be linked against the appropriate SSL libraries. You also have the ability to use -n = Do no use SSL in the call to check_nrpe if you want to remain with the current binary.

cd nrpe-2.15
./configure
make all
make install-plugin
make install-daemon
make install-daemon-config
make install-xinetd
When you run the netstat command, are you still getting this message?
getnameinfo failed
It looks like a dns problem on the server.
Make sure the server is setup in your DNS servers or that the /etc/hosts file is setup correctly for that server.
