Re: What are some good GUI based editors for Nagios?

Nagios XI is by far the most feature-rich one. In the "more free" space, NagiosQL and NConf are the 2 big ones. Both of which could definitely use some more maintainers :) which is the story for most free front-ends for Nagios Core. I've not used Lilac , but it looks basically OK. I prefe...

Re: WMI Error Output: ERROR: Login to remote object.

It's probably worth following the steps in the documentation to create a local account, just for the sake of troubleshooting. If that works, we've at least isolated the problem to the specific domain account which is much stronger footing than where we are currently. This plugin does support domain ...

Re: Looking for documentation

Here's the official documentation on monitoring Linux machines with Nagios Core: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagioscore/docs/nagioscore/4/en/monitoring-linux.html You don't actually install Nagios Core on each machine you want to monitor. You typically locate the Nagios Core service centrall...

Re: WMI Error Output: ERROR: Login to remote object.

Here's the general purpose WMI troubleshooting documentation: https://support.nagios.com/kb/article/nagios-xi-wmi-troubleshooting-579.html I would suggest starting by running the plugin directly from the CLI of your Nagios XI machine, with extra debug information included. Here's an example of that ...

Re: Switching from Nagios XI to Nagios Core

You should be able to just copy the Nagios XI configuration files to your Nagios Core machine. You'd need to make sure your main nagios.cfg file has the correct paths to load those configurations, though. Plugins and dependencies aside (because that's a whole other can of worms), you should be able ...

Re: NRPE equivalent of SNMP trap

Integrating SNMP traps with Nagios Core/XI is going to involve some sort of translation from "SNMP OID -> Nagios Check Result". I believe what you're looking for are " passive checks ", which skip that translation step completely and just pushes Nagios check results directly. Tha...

Re: Extracting server names tagged to a host template

You could probably parse the config files. Or query the CCM database (nagiosql) directly. Or daisy-chain some REST API calls. I can think of several solutions to this problem. If you were parsing the config files, looking for all objects (not just host objects) with the use host_template_test_server...

Re: Auth file suddenly stopped working

Which version of the check_wmi_plus.pl plugin are you using? Can you run the check_wmi_plus.pl plugin from the command-line with the debug flag enabled and share the output? -d Enable debug. Use this to see a lot more of what is going on including the exact WMI Query and results. User/passwords shou...

Re: how without /nagios

Could you clarify which product you're using? You've posted in the Nagios XI section, but the URLs you reference are for Nagios Core . Could you share the relevant Apache configurations you're using to make this change? Assuming Nagios Core, the only major difference I see in the Map and Trends link...
