Re: Host and service notification

For host down there will have to be some kind of delay, otherwise your Nagios would have to be perpetually checking that one device and it would never get any other work done. Not only that you would most likely get sooooo many false positives that it would drive people nuts. Unless your device happ...

Re: Could not find any hostgroup matching 'general-servers'

You probably don't have a host group called "general-servers" if you open up your hostgroups.cfg (under nagios/etc/) you should see all of the host groups that have already been defined.

If you create a new one called general-servers that should solve your problem.

Re: logo image permissions

*slaps forehead* So I made the stupid assumption that "/usr/local/nagiosxi/html/includes/components/nagioscore/ui/images/logos" was a symlink to "/usr/local/nagios/share/images/logos". Well you know what they say about assumptions. Problem solved. @Scott The permissions/groups we...

logo image permissions

It's all about the big issues over here today. Certain logo's in the nagios/share/images/logos dir are unable to be displayed but I can't for the life of me work out why, as far as I can tell the file permissions are identical. I'll be using cisco.png (working) and workstation.png (not working) as e...

Re: Service Time out

NRDP does exactly this, it's a web services interface for Nagios that you can use to submit passive check input... and it waits for an indefinite amount of time ;) http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Addons/Passive-Checks/NRDP--2D-Nagios-Remote-Data-Processor/details Alternatively you can use NSCA ...

Re: sending msg to Nagios server and show it as separate ale

Answering your questions directly Natalia: 1. Absolutely there are ways of dealing with checks of that nature where a single host is acting as a monitoring proxy for multiple hosts, however the solution is going to depend largely on how that information is gathered and returned to Nagios. I'm going ...

Re: sending msg to Nagios server and show it as separate ale

The Achilles heel of Nagios is it's inflexibility when it comes to handling event driven monitoring (it's caused me more than a few headaches and if there's anything I've learned over the years it's that every user expects a different solution to the problem). If it's going to be a passive check you...

Re: script output has more that 3 status

The behaviour of how Nagios handles the monitoring scripts is immutable, you cannot modify that behaviour. Nagios will only ever understand 4 return codes: 0 - OK 1 - Warning 2 - Critical 3 - Unknown Nagios will always display the last message handed to STDOUT (print, echo, etc) as the description d...

Re: moniter FTP in nagos core 3.4(ubuntu)

I believe the default nagios-plugins package has a basic FTP check, alternatively there are a number of plugins on Nagios exchange for monitoring FTP functionality: http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Pl ... tocols/FTP
