reverse proxy access
Does anyone have a "How to" for putting in place a way to access your nagios server with a reverse proxy from a server in a DMZ? e.g. - We want to be able to access our nagios server securely from mobile devices... (Rove is WAY over priced) so I thought that maybe we could put a server in ...

Do service cfg files need an actual check
We have about 250 servers that are identical and we currently have them all in a service group where we put all the checks except the ping. The ping check is in the actual service cfg for that server. Nagios squawks during the sanity check when a matching service cfg doesn't exist. My question is, d...

Parent child alerts
I'm trying to get rid of some "service" dependencies that are better served with a parent/child relationship.... I am making my server a child of my switch. Having done this I'm still getting an alert on my Host Status page when I take my switch down, The switch is in a "DOWN" st...

flakey T-1 connections
We have about 200 sites that are connected via a T1... and they can get flakey sometimes. Each site has a single server that we monitor and one of the check is a simple "ping" Sometimes the T1s will very briefly drop and cause our ping check to report... We understand the nature of our net...

Failing checks because of backups
I am seeing several of my windows servers failing their checks PROBLEM: CheckConsoleuser is UNKNOWN on host XXXXX. Info:The check didnt respond within the timeout period! My first assumption is that this is happening because the nightly backups are running and taking all the resources/bandwidth. If ...

Re: Problems page and image links
Just to follow up because I hate it when people leave a thread hanging with no concrete solution, here is my simple script that works for me. #!/bin/sh ##Set up the variables filename="nagios-problems.txt" #contains the subject text report="status"`eval date +%Y%m%d`".html&q...

Re: Problems page and image links
And now that I think about it, this is probably easier wget -k -O status.html --user nagios --password nagios "http://nagiosdc1.dfckc.com/nagios/cgi-bin/status.cgi?host=all&servicestatustypes=28" the "-k" converts the links in the document to make them suitable for local view...
