Re: default contact on hosts

thank you. It would be nice if the button was accessible from another area as well. like a relationship button when you click on the host.

Re: Parents, hostgroups, better notifications, consistent ch

I do have a network adapter WMI check working on one windows host after reading the WMI plugin docs. It I did this a while back. My question is not can WMI monitor the network adapter, but why does the WMI wizard not assist the user in monitoring network adapter via WMI?

I cannot find the relationship screen that you show. Can you tell me how to find it with more steps?

Re: default contact on hosts

I guess one question I did not ask is: The default contact assigned to everyhost appears to be directly configured even though I did not do that. I believe direct object values override inherited template values. That is my main concern for the question. Will the objects.cache file show me where a v...

default contact on hosts

when I look at the "alert settings" tab of a newly created host, I see one contact (me) and zero contact groups attached to the host. How are these default values determined? I am using templates to control the notification settings, but I would like to better understand notification behav...

Parents, hostgroups, better notifications, consistent checks

Multiple questions: 1) I want to get less alerts when something major goes down and everything becomes unreachable. Using parent relationships is for this, right? Best way to convert from no parents anywhere to having parents defined? Bulk modification tool? If Nagios server cannot reach anything ou...

Re: Nagios XI exploit

I am not an AWS expert or a Nagios expert, but I do have some experience with protecting web servers from injection attacks. First, I hope that Nagios support can give you a patch to protect from this. The fact that they can upload a binary file to your /tmp is very scary! As far as general security...

Re: bandwidth graphs and updating interface info

Thank you. I was able to get everything figured out. on my cisco switch I needed to run: snmp-server ifindex persist then I deleted all the old services, and ran the config wizard again. all my indexes had shifted by 1 after a switch reboot. which was causing alerts for a notconnected 1 gigabit inte...

Re: bandwidth graphs and updating interface info

thank you for that reply. I guess my real question is how does nagios know which physical port on the switch a service is monitoring? I want to understand the design and how the nagios objects correlate to the switch. if I go to CCM and rename service "TwentyFiveGigE1/0/39 Server01-02-1Gb Bandw...
