Re: API or backend call to disable, not delete, a host
Greg, (sorry for delay) Yes, I think so. We have the same host groups, templates, time periods, services and admin users on all XIs. The host.cfg (and corresponding CCM records) are different from XI to XI. If we need to migrate a host and ensure its special service checks (application focused as op...

Re: API or backend call to disable, not delete, a host
Thanks Greg. This works for the host, but not for it's service checks, at least not how we apply them. We have services assoc to host groups, then host groups to hosts. We have all host groups, and all service cfgs on every nagios XI, weather they are needed or not. If we need to move a host for loa...

API or backend call to disable, not delete, a host
Use case: Some of our business customers are, shall we say... sloppy with their server retirements.\ They ask for the a server to be retired, de-racked etc, but shortly after the hosts are powered down they realize all the things that host was needed for, and a day, week, month later it's back on lin...

Re: 5.8.7 offline install fails
Sean,
All that we get is in the text I attached, though it references install.log
Is this an artifact of the standard install process?
As it stands I don't have enough error data to say what in the mysql portion of the install has failed

Re: VMware Monitoring...
You'll need to download and install the vmware SDK (references in the doc Sean linked), and you may need to check the account permissions on some of the required perl components, depending on how your Linux server has been configured. Took me and my team the better part of a morning to hunt that dow...

Re: NAGIOS XI - Not possible to delete items (Hosts/Services
Dollars to donuts, my guess, is that you have a service that someone set up without completing or broke Error: Service description, host name, or check command is NULL Error: Could not register service (config file '/usr/local/nagios/etc/service/SERVER - PING.cfg', starting on line 16) To test this ...

Re: 5.8.7 offline install fails
Thanks Sean, I'l see what I can get our engineers to do.
Any idea where the rpm/yum version of the install would put the full install.log?
