Re: Another nrpe SSL handshake probelm
Well, I did find someone that compiled some RPM files for 3.0.1 but in testing they didn't work out so well so I decided to just compile and install them via a script. RPM would have been cleaner but at last I'm working now. Thanks for the support all.

Re: Another nrpe SSL handshake probelm
Thanks... I'll be working on this for the next few days and I'll post what I end up doing in hopes it helps someone down the road. Quick question... I want to compile my nrpe to put files in the same places as I have on my rhel6 systems (used from epel) but I'm not seeing what my configure options a...

Re: Another nrpe SSL handshake probelm
Hey rkennedy, I'm sorry...I didn't see your post before I just posted this last one. I uninstalled my test compile and put the epel version back on which brings me back to the issue. If I run /bin/nrpe I see this: NRPE = Nagios Remote Plugin Executor Version 2.15 Last Modified: 09-06-2013 SSL/TLS Av...

Re: Another nrpe SSL handshake probelm
Ok looks like it's the epel version of nrpe that's the problem. I manually complied 3.0.1 (Thanks for the suggestion) it and it seems to work. I wondering if it's because it's is complied with ssl 2048 by default instead of 512 that comes in epel. I'm going to keep looking to see if I can make an RP...

Another nrpe SSL handshake probelm
I've read everything I could find in this forum and still can't figure this out but I'm getting the "CHECK_NRPE: ERROR - Could not compile SSL handshake." issue. I get the same response if I run the test command on the server or on the host. I pulled the rpm from the epel and read that it'...

NRPE works but Nagios reports "not defined"
I'm having an issue that I can't seem to figure out. I'm using RHEL5 and attempting to use NRPE to track free space on the root disk. The problem is it's reporting that it is "not defined" even though it is. If I run the command on the remote machine it returns correctly. If I run it from ...

Re: check_disk misconfiguration
After researching a bit I've found the best way to monitor disk usage is with nrpe I guess. I just hate having to install it and configure it. I'll get over that. The next trick is to learn how to monitor LVM logical volumes and ZFS file systems. Any suggestions for that? I've found one that will mo...

check_disk misconfiguration
Today I noticed that I have a misconfiguration problem with how I check the local disk on all my UNIX servers. Apparently I've only been monitoring the local disk of my nagios server thinking that I was correctly monitoring the local disk of each server. I discovered this when the root partition on ...

Splunk messing up Nagios?
Hello, I'm a long time Nagios user, first time poster. I have an installation for Nagios running on a RHEL5 box that has been running fine. Recently however In installed Splunk on the same server and configured it to ingest the /var/log/messages files. Both Nagios and Splunk seemed to play nicely fo...
