i have 8 rc*.d, rc0.d, rc1.d, rc2.d, rc3.d, rc4.d, rc5.d, rc6.d and rcS.d. i assume that is'nt righ?

I just tried building core with your configure options and it worked just fine. What linux distro are you installing to? Is the sendmail path correct?
