We are running the Nagios image for 5.2.7. Are there instructions for upgrading it to 5.8 available somewhere? We are in a very restricted network with limited Internet connectivity so this may have to be done manually. Thanks.

I executed the mysqlcheck command and it completed successfully. Did as you suggested and still no change. The error of Internal Server Error persists.
