Re: Deactivated Hosts Aren't Removed from Core
No, not that I know of, the reason being is the dependencies are made in the database as well, and it won't let you break that chain because of this. slansing: There can't be any dependencies (at least in the form of an enforced relationship) because my instance currently allows me to deactivate/de...

Re: Deactivated Hosts Aren't Removed from Core
I applied it to a newer version of XI and it worked as expected. I didn't apply it on Nagios XI 2012R1.8, but this didn't seem to make a difference... I am not 100% sure what the issue is. I tried to follow the steps that you outlined: Is there an option to enable/disable the checking of dependenci...

Re: Deactivated Hosts Aren't Removed from Core
Thanks, lmiltchev. Can you recap the steps you performed to make sure I didn't miss something? Please use as much detail as possible. 1. I downloaded the 2012R1.8 tarball to my "/tmp" directory, un-tared it, cd-ed to "/tmp/nagiosxi" directory and ran "./fullinstall". 2...

Re: Deactivated Hosts Aren't Removed from Core
I will discuss this internally. Upgrading our instance is a little bit involved, hence my question about testing on 2012R1.8. I did a fresh install of 2012R1.8. Tried to deactivate and delete localhost. In both cases I was warned about dependent relationships... example1.PNG example2.PNG Thanks, lm...

Re: Deactivated Hosts Aren't Removed from Core
I would really recommend upgrading your Nagios XI instance. We have many bug fixes and added features after 2012R1.8. Please, read the change log here: http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagiosxi/CHANGES-2012.TXT I will discuss this internally. Upgrading our instance is a little bit involved, hence...

Re: Deactivated Hosts Aren't Removed from Core
I tested both, deactivating and deleting hosts with dependencies in Nagios XI 2012R2.7. I was not able to deactivate or delete them for that matter. Every time I tried, I would get the expected " Dependent relationship " message in the CCM. We're running Nagios XI 2012R1.8. Do you know wh...

Re: Deactivated Hosts Aren't Removed from Core
Thank you, sreinhardt. I appreciate your help. The reason I ask if we've been having the same problem with orphaned CFG files with deleting and deactivating hosts.sreinhardt wrote:I can check again, but that has not had issues in some number of years, for deletions specifically.

Re: Deactivated Hosts Aren't Removed from Core
Lmiltchev and I both tested this. We created a host, added several services and also applied the host to a hostgroup, in the hostgroup configuration. We then attempted to deactivate the host and were informed that it was not possible due to dependencies. Removing the services and attempting again, ...

Re: Deactivated Hosts Aren't Removed from Core
I was not able to recreate the issue on my test box. I used both files uploaded by swilkerson, and created two test hosts - test1 and test2. Deactivated test1 by clicking on the "Yes" active button in the CCM, and deactivated test2 by selecting its checkbox, and clicking on the "Deac...
