Great Very Cool, So the number of potential sensors doesn't seem to be a concern. I'll start hacking together a proof of concept.

Is it a good idea to use nagios to collect lots of data about a particular space, I would like to use it to collect lots of data such as Temp, Lighting Info, Number of people in the building Etc. I have lots of sensors that can easily send the info via Passive checks. I would like to store the data ...
