Preferred Operating System Agents?
We're in the process of organizing resources to provide official binary builds of agents for various operating systems. Linux distros are pretty straightforward and a Windows agent (NSClient++) already exists. We'd like to know what other OSes people want agents for. Most the the Linux/Unix agents w...

Re: CentOS VMWare Image size
We just changed the VMware image size from 60GB back down to 8GB. After much research, we didn't find any way to prevent the drive from expanding to its full size when converted/imported to ESX. Its easier to increase drive space than decrease it, and 8GB is much better for backup/disaster recovery ...

Re: Nagios XI license question
Licensing depends on the total number of hosts/nodes on a particular Nagios XI install. Thus, if there are 100 devices in total that are on the central Nagios XI server, you could go with a 100-node license. However, you're right at the edge of the license bounds, so I would recommend an unlimited l...

Re: SNMP trap handling
As I mentioned via email the other week, we would recommend going with snmptt. FYI, we will likely integrate this natively into a future release of XI.

Re: attempting to use the wizard to add a Win 2008 server fails
There was a bug in the early version of the wizard that was the result of a missing templates. Recent XI updates fix this problem. Can you apply an update and see if that resolves the issue?

Did you happen to apply the configuration changes? You need to do so before the groups will appear in the interface.

Re: Nagios Core Config Manager Problem
We'll add some code that warns the admin about incorrect file permissions on the config files. I'm guessing the issue is that something is going wrong with the NagiosQL export, or there is a problem with your Nagios config files. If there's a configuration error when you "apply changes", t...

Re: Nagiosxi login issues
The username/password is stored in a Postgres database, with the password being stored as an MD5 hash of the plaintext password. We'll write a quick utility to reset it from the command line and post a message back to this thread when its ready.

Re: Configuration Wizard
We're working on one now. Its a combined Linux + Asterisk config wizard we built for a client, but we'll be separating it into two different wizards. The wizard will require the agent (NRPE) be configured in a certain way. Out of curiosity, do you already have NRPE installed on any Linux boxes? Last...

Re: NSClient password - where in Nagios does it go?
Hi Jason -
When you run the Windows Desktop or Windows Server monitoring wizard there is a link to download the agent. Right below the download link is where you'll find the "Agent Password" text field.
