Re: Upgrade from 3.x.x

We'll have a migration/upgrade document out by the end of the week for moving from a standalone Nagios Core setup to Nagios XI.

What have you used to produce your existing RRD files? XI uses PNP, so if you've been using that it shouldn't be too difficult.

Re: convert vmware image

Hi Marius - We'll still provide support for this, as the main issue with support is the OS and installed packages. Do you have a howto for the steps you took to convert the image? We'd like to make a formal howto for other users and customers (giving you the credit of course). We could also use this...

Re: Adding a new switch to Nagios XI.

FYI, you can see the output of MRTG's cfgmaker run by looking at the /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg file. Interface descriptions should appear in there. If they look correct in your config, let us know. We can make the switch wizard smarter in the future by checking this file for descriptors. What would be your...

Re: LDAP authentication

We'll keep this in mind for the future. What type of integration would you be looking for?

A. Generating user accounts from data found in an LDAP server
B. Authenticating against an LDAP server
C. Both of the above
D. Something else?

Re: Adding a new switch to Nagios XI.

Switch/router monitoring isn't handled by Cacti - its actually MRTG under the hood. The port name comes from MRTG's cfgmaker utility which scans the interfaces and determines the names. FYI, MRTG is set to log in rrdtool format and Nagios monitors the rrd file for bandwidth stats. The service name c...

Re: Schedule

If you're not seeing the next check time change in the interface, it could be that Nagios Core has not yet processed the command to immediately schedule the next check. Wait a minute or so and the next check time should be updated. To verify the command succeeded, watch the last check time to make s...

Re: Schedule

When you schedule an immediate check, Nagios will automatically adjust the next check time for the host or service to be current time + regular check interval. For example, if Service A is configured to be checked every 5 minutes, the following scenario would apply: 1. Service A was checked 2 minute...

Re: Apply Configuration

Did you edit any of the config files manually? If so, the file permissions may have gotten whacked and caused the database export to fail. The tilde extension on config file seems to indicate this might be the case. You can do a manual database export and check for errors by following these steps: 1...

Re: convert vmware image

Hi Marius -

This is a possibility, but its not likely from the start. We'll listen to what people want for virtual machines and make additional options available based on that need.
