collect logs from Windows PCs logs and Network devices(Switches, firewall etc), NLS does this, as long as your device has the ability to forward logs. analyse You can make charts, correlations, etc with Kibana. give various reports eh.. what exactly are you looking for in reports? suggests correcti...

NRPE might be running the command/script as a different user than you're running it as. The best thing you could do to troubleshoot is make sure you're running it as whatever NRPE is set up to run it as. I haven't worked for Nagios for awhile now, but last I knew Ubuntu was not supported. I haven't been watching closely - but I'm not aware of that changing. Red Hat/CentOS is the recommended installation platform.

I was working on documentation for this before I left Nagios, but unfortunately never got it pushed out due to a high workload. You'll want to take a look at a project called Lumberjack/Logstash Forwarder/Beats/Whatever Elastic Co is calling it this month. I was able to successfully ship logs to NLS...

NRPE is not a required piece of Nagios Log Server.
