Thanks again - it ended up that I just had to restart the network interface, an ifconfig showed me an IPV6 address but not an IPV4 address. I love being at the bottom of the learning curve!

Thank you for the response hsmith, I downloaded the XI ova so I will give that a shot for SNMP. I can go back to a snap shot or start over but if there is a chance I captured the logs from this event I would like to salvage the LS. This only happens a maybe a couple times per month and I would rathe...
