Re: /usr/local/nagios/etc conf files permission
I have to do this every time I make a change to a host or service configuration when using nagios core. Then I write to the files and everything comes back normal again but when I go back to view the hosts or services anything I had just changed shows an Out of Sync status again. Not sure why I have...

Re: Status of ESX host services
Nagios is running on a VM and is running version 2009R1.2. My ESX servers run on HP blades (BL 465c) running vsphere. The ESX servers and the nagios vm are on the same subnet. The interconnect bays on the blade chassis has cisco 3020 catalyst switches and Brocade fiber switches.

Re: Status of ESX host services
I was using Host/Guest in terms of vmware. I'm basically trying to evaluate this product. I'm running through all the wizards. I used the documentation to install the vmware wizard. I went through the wizard twice adding two ESX servers to be monitored. I checked off all of the options to monitor (c...

Re: Status of ESX host services
I've already read this document. It helped to get the wizard and appropriate components installed but it doesn't give any details on configuring it so it works.

Re: Status of ESX host services
I'm not trying to monitor the guests, just the ESX hosts. Is there any documentation out there on how to set this up?

Re: Status of ESX host services
I'm not really sure I follow what you are saying. Is what I am seeing normal behavior? Does the VMware wizard use snmp? Would I have to edit the snmpd.conf file on my ESX server to follow the Nagios server to poll it?

Status of ESX host services
I recently installed the VMware wizard and added two ESX hosts to monitoring. I checked off all of the options for what I wanted to monitor on each host. I used the ESX host's root credentials when I went through the wizard. The hosts have been successfully added to Nagios. In the Host Status page b...

Re: Nagios Wizards no longer creating hosts
You indicate that if we were to take the 1.1H VM image and then add hosts using the wizard that it would work up to a point and then stop? At what point did it stop, when did you enable "your vary own" /proxy server/(Used as a pronoun in-place of your real problem)? That exactly what happ...

Re: Nagios Wizards no longer creating hosts
Sorry but I'm not a Linux guy. I can only do basic stuff so I am not fluent in Penguin talk. I apologize if my posts aren't clear enough for you but I don't know what other details you need. I explained exactly what I did and what the outcome was. I would happily try what cczp1 did if someone could ...
