after a few days of trial and error..... I now am monitoring several machines....... the nrpe agent had to be hand installed and several other packages to get it to work but it is up and running......

I have not been able to get the nagios client agent to install properly yet....... but if this is the best option for success then i will continue to try...

OK, so i really like Nagios XI it is a great project, and we'd love to purchase the license to monitor 50 linux servers..... We run Ubuntu here.... and getting Nagios to play nice with ubuntu can be done but is time consuming.... I'd like to have some documentation on how to get my nagios box to see...
