I located the file "/usr/local/nagiosxi/etc/components/vmware/NAME_OF_VCENTER_auth.txt" which contains the vCenter username & password in plain text. Looks like editing that file may do it.
Disturbingly, that file is (Was) world readable.

After setting up a VMware vCenter host using the configuration wizard, how to you change the password (or username) that it uses to connect to vCenter?
