How to protect NRPE traffic with certificates
In a previous post i was able to communicate with my windows server via nsclient++ with insecure mode. However, I really want to try communicate with the nagios server using certificates. It seems the documentation regarding on nsclient++ and nagios nrpe using certificates are very rare if not outda...

Re: Checking Windows Host using check_nrpe
Okay, I got it working. On my windows host, the modules that are responsible for the OPTION i am using on check_nt are disabled. https://jlfofg.bn1303.livefilestore.com/y4mOW_z212K-j9hvw6Fc0NNOGNabNlfG-NYk6CAH4K0Qwsyo73_FozRVpekGW4hx-Kv3kXXHPcGqo3oNeP1q6k7XNuUBhxhWNUX5MIn2TTMDuCSW0HJTIn1cd8srkdHfOb6...

Re: Checking Windows Host using check_nrpe
Okay, Sorry for the late reply. So I've setup a test windows server and installed NSClient++ with insecure mode (so that I can use check_nt). I have added the Nagios Server IP address and assigned a password on my Windows Host. I can confirm port 12489 is open on the windows host. However when I sta...

Re: No Nagios4 Package for Ubuntu?
Hi ray.holtz, That is correct, you will need to install from source in order to get the most updated version of Nagios. I don't think there is a migration path that allows your to just install a updated version of nagios to your existing one. So there will be some work needed to be done. The manual ...

Re: Nagios not supressing service dependent checks
Okay, I let it run for a couple of minutes and I noticed something. It looks like the last check time stamp on the dependent service is no longer being updated. https://krfxxq.bn1303.livefilestore.com/y4m5d8Z48413E6ayc0hjGgBXaV9xeISkXX3DpDdJxVmo0CXsviRYoIYJXkWne83Tm1On-lT6ph0rYZAFaRaGfXFy9fk1eTcj2FA...

Re: Nagios not supressing service dependent checks
Scottwilkerson, Nagios documented that "execution_failure_criteria" is the status of the master service that triggers the suppression of checks. https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagioscore/docs/nagioscore/3/en/objectdefinitions.html#servicedependency My code set it as 'c' so when the s...

Re: Nagios not supressing service dependent checks
I tried deliberately stopping the SSH and HTTP (Apache) service on the monitored server but the scheduling queue still showing the active checks for the dependent service. Any ideas? https://m7ek0g.bn1303.livefilestore.com/y4m98o5yfBkxAPgSJvgP-iAPlmejzK4VkcD5TS1Q4kByvB_vMWNPV71iI4sUoBFotzq2HF54E0wrI...
