I don't think there is a migration path that allows your to just install a updated version of nagios to your existing one. So there will be some work needed to be done. The manual ...

I tried deliberately stopping the SSH and HTTP (Apache) service on the monitored server but the scheduling queue still showing the active checks for the dependent service.
