Re: Problems installing/testing Nagios on OSX Sierra
Yeah, that totally works. I tried redoing the whole installation process one more time, and there were some warnings after running cd /tmp/nagioscore-nagios-4.3.4/ sudo ./configure --with-httpd-conf=/opt/local/apache2/conf/extra --with-gd-lib=/opt/local/lib --with-gd-inc=/opt/local/include sudo make...

Re: Problems installing/testing Nagios on OSX Sierra
I've attached my nagios.cfg file. Unfortunately, the 'chage' command doesn't seem to exist. And I don't need it on OSX. I'm looking into database monitoring for a research project, so before I set up a VM or try to set it running on a linux server, since there were OSX instructions, it seemed easier...

Re: Problems installing/testing Nagios on OSX Sierra
If you changed the file to be something specific, if should be nagios . What do you mean when you checked NagiosUser, it was blank? Are you saying you echoed the variable? Yeah, which I guess isn't terribly useful. Just really not sure why sudo /etc/rc.d/init.d/nagios start isn't working for me.

Re: Problems installing/testing Nagios on OSX Sierra
I can touch nagios.configtest just fine, which creates the blank file. chown nagios:nagios /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.configtest doesn't work unless I use sudo - I get "Operation not permitted". And I can similarly chmod the file if I use sudo. However, that doesn't seem to help with run...

Re: Problems installing/testing Nagios on OSX Sierra
I noticed there was an update to 4.3.4 since I last tried to install, so I tried running through the instructions with the new version and am now getting stopped when trying to start nagios. Upon running sudo /etc/rc.d/init.d/nagios start, I get: -n Starting nagios: ERROR: Could not create or update...

Re: Problems installing/testing Nagios on OSX Sierra
If I comment out the lines it complained about, then it starts complaining about lines in /opt/local/apache2/conf/extra/nagios.conf. If I comment out the lines in that one, then I get: AH00557: httpd: apr_sockaddr_info_get() failed for mcnulty AH00558: httpd: Could not reliably determine the server'...

Re: Problems installing/testing Nagios on OSX Sierra
When I run apachectl -M | grep cgi I get the error: httpd: Syntax error on line 611 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Could not open configuration file /conf/extra/nagios.conf: No such file or directory The tutorial had me add Include conf/extra/nagios.conf Include conf/extra/mod_php70.conf to htt...
