Re: Could not open log file '/var/log/nagios/nagios.log' for

Hey - Thanks - that gave me the clue I needed. It turned out that there is a "nagios" group in my centralized authentication service, and that prevented the nagios group from ever being created locally. There was no nagios group in /etc/group, but when I would do things like "id nagio...

Could not open log file '/var/log/nagios/nagios.log' for rea

Hello - This seems to be a fairly common problem, but nothing has been working for me yet so far. I am getting the error message "Could not open log file '/var/log/nagios/nagios.log' for reading" when I try to access links in the web interface like "Notifications" or "Event ...

Re: cannot connect to install_driver(Oracle) failed

I figured it out...ultimately it was a problem with the way I had configured CPAN. During initial setup, CPAN gives you the choice of where CPAN will install the downloaded Perl modules: local lib (the default), sudo, or manual. I chose local lib and as a result, CPAN was created under my local user...

cannot connect to install_driver(Oracle) failed

Hello - I'm running Nagios Core 4.3.4 and trying to get some Oracle database checks going on a Linux box. I've seen a few other people run into a similar problem on these boards, but I can't quite seem to figure out what the missing piece here is. I am trying to use the check_oracle_health to connec...

Re: Permission error after patching

I updated to Nagios 4.3.4 and also switched the nagios user login shell from /sbin/nologin to /bin/bash. If I execute the following command as root, I still get this permission error: nagios -v /etc/nagios/nagios.cfg However, if I execute that command as the nagios user (I can now login with it due ...

Re: Permission error after patching

No luck...I tried changing the file owner to match yours...even tried to assign "other" to be able to write to contacts.cfg...but the "permissions" issue remains with this contact.cfg when running nagios -v /etc/nagios/objects/nagios.cfg.

Permission error after patching

Hello - I run Nagios Core 4.3.2, and after applying the latest patches available from EPEL, I've started to get a permissions error when I run the syntax check command nagios -v /etc/nagios/nagios.cfg. Nagios continues to run without apparent issue, but here is the output I get when I run the syntax...
