Monitor Freeradius without NRPE

Dear Community,

Can somebody help me to monitor freeradius server without installing NRPE? As I understood,

1. I need to enable SNMP in freeradius server
2. Then I need to add the server to Nagios, port could be 1812

Please correct me my steps are wrong.

Thanks in advance
Luke.
