Re: LS events export to Splunk

The below documentation assumes you are using Nagios Log Server 2.0+. It sort of depends on some specifics of your Splunk architecture. A very common way to forward messages from Logstash to Splunk generally is to use a syslog Logstash output rule pointed at a Splunk Heavy Forwarder or syslog aggre...

Re: Configuring ESXi Server to Nagios log server.

Here's some supporting documentation specifically for ESXi: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagios-log-server/docs/Sending-ESXi-Logs-To-Nagios-Log-Server.pdf Does that documentation provide the answers you need? It's not immediately clear exactly what the problem is, but you can make Nagios Log ...

Re: How to configure WMI agent on existing nagios core 3.5.0

For the Windows side of things, do everything on the first 11 pages of this documentation: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagiosxi/docs/Monitoring-Windows-Using-WMI-and-Nagios-XI.pdf I realize the documentation says Nagios XI, but the first few steps are just as valid with Nagios Core. For chec...

Re: Possible bug/problem with systemctl

Is there a way to prevent this? You could alter your systemd definition for Nagios Core, but that won't stop command arguments from being exposed in ps or practically any other process utility. It 100% depends on the plugin you're using. Some of them have options for creating tokens, hashing/encryp...

Re: Command ran by nagios user or by nagios services

Without knowing more about how you configured your environment or how the uemcli program works, it's hard to say. My guess is that this probably boils down to the discrete differences between set , export , and env : https://askubuntu.com/questions/205688/whats-the-difference-between-set-export-and-...

Re: Nagios web interface not showing after SSL cert installe

I'd be interested in seeing what the Chrome/Firefox dev console has to say about this. Can you share your browser's console output when trying to access Nagios Core via a web browser? Here's how to get it in Firefox and Chrome: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Web_Console/Opening_the_W...

Re: Custom Rest API Output

I believe under the "Help" section of the Nagios XI GUI, there is a "Custom API Endpoints" section. Here's an older post I made that implements one for the purpose of finding all members of a given hostgroup (it's in the "customers only" section, so I quoted it below): ...

Re: Nagios web interface not showing after SSL cert installe

It looks as if you might have used the Nagios XI docs when setting this up? #<IfModule mod_rewrite.c> #RewriteEngine On #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d #RewriteRule nagiosxi/api/v1/(.*)$ /usr/local/nagiosxi/html/api/v1/index.php?request=$1 [QSA,NC,L] #</IfMo...

Re: NAGIOS Linux Agent

You could build the NRPE binaries on a "online" machine then ship them to the "offline" machine. Or, if the machine has build tools, you can build NRPE from source: https://support.nagios.com/kb/article.php?id=515 Assuming you have a internal package repository (something like Ar...

Re: check_http odd behavior

I'd be interested in which versions of the check_http plugin are in-use on the old and new machines. check_http -V should print the version number.

Also if any sort of proxying/NATing is in place.
