Re: Nagios XI with Chef

XI won't know about the config in the static folder so it can't control hosts/services/notifications there. That sounds like a chicken-egg problem to me unless I'm misunderstanding the situation. The CCM wasn't designed around interacting with third parties; That's what the REST API was built for. ...

Re: Nagios Custom report

The performance data is stored in a time-series database totally separate from MySQL. As of Nagios XI 5.x, you can find this data in RRDs located in /usr/local/nagios/share/perfdata . You can interact with them using rrdtool . Alternatively, there exists the rrdexport endpoint in the Nagios XI API w...

Re: Nagios XI with Chef

Take a look through this documentation and let us know if it doesn't cover your specific questions: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagiosxi/docs/Managing-Config-Files-Manually-With-Nagios-XI.pdf Essentially, there's a special way to handle "manual" config file management in Nagios XI ...

Re: Monitor services on remote linux host

Is it mandatory to install nrpe agent on Nagios server. Not necessarily. All that is mandatory is that the remote machine you are communicating with via NRPE (which is most typically done from the Nagios Core machine using check_nrpe to the remote NRPE server) has the NRPE server running on the spe...

Re: Patches installation

You could do that generally via event handlers , but you'd have to write the logic yourself. Frankly, this is better handled by a proper inventory or configuration management platform. Chef, Puppet, Salt, Ansible, etc. Alternatively, a repository manager like Artifactory which could piggy-back off y...

Re: check_http adding domain name to fqdn ?

Which version of check_http are you using? This should provide that information: /path/to/check_http --version Which operating system and version of that operating system is doing the executing of check_http? I'm pretty sure this is a general getaddrinfo failure that's happening here: https://github...

Re: POP3Client error

You'll need to make sure your system's Perl environment contains all the dependent modules. This applies to practically any Perl based plugin you want to use with Nagios XI, not just check_pop3_subject. Via yum, that package can be installed like so: yum install perl-Email-MIME * It is also worth me...

Re: Nagios Average Services Check Latency is very high

If you're looking for cheap performance gains, I would strongly suggest upgrading to Nagios Core 4+. Almost any tuning done on this system would likely be outvalued by simply upgrading to a more modern version of Nagios Core. Here's a similar thread: https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=...

Re: Status Red. please help!

Simply put: [NO(after allocation more than allowed [95.0%] used disk on node, free: [8.59176811070615%])] Your disk is probably close to capacity. I would suggest adding more space, or removing some old data to free up space. See this documentation (specifically the "Maintenance Settings" ...

Re: Nagios XI Alerts via SMS

Which platform specifically are you trying to interact with? Is it a modem? Some third-party web service? I don't know of any instructions specific to SMPP, but some vendors offer specific integrations or APIs that can be leveraged more easily. Here's the official documentation for setting up SMS al...
