Re: Service Check Timed Out for one Service

The -t 420 you've added to your service check is technically correct, but as I said this won't override Nagios Core's service_check_timeout setting. Increasing this setting has implications on each and every one of your checks, so if you do change it, I would suggest you change it with care and dili...

Re: NSClient 0.4.x compatability on Nagios core 3.5.x

I'll link dwhitfield 's reply: https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=47191&p=242483#p242652 Asking the same question in multiple threads won't get a faster resolution. can we replace NCPA agent for windows servers to fix the security vulnerability. Knowing absolutely nothing a...

Re: SQL SERVER + NAGIOS

A couple things: ⋅  Does your sa password contain special characters? If so, please review this documentation: https://support.nagios.com/kb/article.php?id=580 ⋅  What charset is your SQL Server instance's master database configured to use? UTF-8? CP1252? Something else? ⋅&n...

Re: Seperately identify the Active and Passive check service

You can parse status.dat for practically anything regarding how the Nagios environment looks. Active checks enabled: [root@capra_nag ~]# grep 'servicestatus' -A 42 /usr/local/nagios/var/status.dat | grep -B 42 'active_checks_enabled=1' | grep 'host_name\|service_description' host_name=CENESPROD00 se...

Re: NSClient 0.4.x compatability on Nagios core 3.5.x

1. Is the nsclient 0.4.x still compatible with our nagios core 3.x that we are using ? 2. what sort of issues we will face after the upgradation, will we loose any monitoring? It depends on your versions of the check_nt / check_nrpe plugins more than anything else because those are what will break ...

Re: Mail of check_proc does not contain full output

TL;DR -- the default Nagios config objects use $SERVICEOUTPUT$ for notifications which only returns the first line of STDOUT. There's 2 different Nagios macros that are responsible for service status information: $SERVICEOUTPUT$ and $LONGSERVICEOUTPUT$ . I'm betting if you were to check the command...

Re: Need to deploy WMI agentless monitoring on Nagios core 3

For the Windows side of things, do everything on the first 11 pages of this documentation: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagiosxi/docs/Monitoring-Windows-Using-WMI-and-Nagios-XI.pdf I realize the documentation says Nagios XI, but the first few steps are just as valid with Nagios Core. For chec...

Re: Help Exfiltrating Data to a Third Party

It would be useful to know what sort of data you're interested in shipping to New Relic. Events? Notifications/Alerts? Anything and everything that Nagios does ever? I can confidently say there are many people here that can tell you how to pull any and all data from Nagios XI, but I don't know a sin...

Re: Checking Docker Container with NCPA/NRDP

But do you also see the same "unexpected operator" messages? Or just messages pertaining to the Docker daemon? Have you also tried adding the NCPA user to the docker system group? Apologies if that seems repetitive, but it's not immediately clear from your last post what specific actions w...

Re: Nagios plugin not working as expected on remote server

Monitoring "percent CPU usage" is a tricky thing to do generally speaking. If you're able to install an agent in the machine, you might try leveraging NCPA which takes advantage of the psutil Python package to provide, among other things, % CPU usage: https://www.nagios.org/ncpa/help.php#a...
