it is now working I just removed the entries for generic_hosts in the hosts.cfg

Questions for nagios Core
Please can anyone answer my questions
Does Nagios Core support API e.g for adding or deleting bulk devices
Also does Nagios Core support SNMP trap forwarding e,g when a host is down send a trap to another system( event handler)
Also can Nagios Core support up to 3000 or more devices

ran the sed commands and got less errors like before

@scottwilkerson I know I think why Nagios is failing it is my Nagios.cfg file I have removed the amended one and have used the one that is bare I mean no configuration on it by myself and the service started but now my only issue is that I need to configure my Nagios server to include all the hosts,...
