Re: XI install fails to find RRDs.pm
We're still testing Nagios XI on RHEL 6. There are some issues that we've run into that are causing problems. We're working on solving them, but this could be one of the bugs we have yet to resolve. Right now we support RHEL 5.x, but we likely won't be able to fully support RHEL 6.x for a few weeks.

Re: rrd does not exist after wizard rerun
I would suggest doing the following things before running the wizard: 1. Deleting the config entries for the switch from the MRTG config file (/etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg). There will be multiple config lines that reference the IP/address of the switch 2. Delete all temporary Nagios XI / MRTG scan files will...

Re: Issues after Nagios upgrade to NagiosXi 2011
Just to clarify... 1. Nagios Core does not start automatically when the server reboots but 2. Nagios Core DOES start when you manually issue a "service nagios start" from the command line? If that's the case, the symlink to the /etc/init.d/nagios file may be missing from the /etc/rc.d/rc3....

Re: Bug with two nagios services starting
There shouldn't be anything in the default XI install that checks to make sure Nagios is running and automatically restarts. This is by design so admins can stop Nagios Core if necessary. The /etc/init.d/nagios init script could probably use some tweaking to ensure all nagios processes are killed of...

Re: can't find where "mystery" service is defined
This sounds like two copies of Nagios might be running (one with an old configuration). Try the following commands from the shell prompt and see if the problem disappears:
Code: Select all
service nagios stop
killall nagios
service ndo2db restart
service nagios start

Re: network switch ports
The switch wizard caches scan data in the following directory: /usr/local/nagiosxi/tmp You should see files in that directory that correspond to your switch(es). For example: /usr/local/nagiosxi/tmp/mrtgscan-192.168.1.253 /usr/local/nagiosxi/tmp/mrtgscan-192.168.1.253.done /usr/local/nagiosxi/tmp/mr...

Re: Nagios XI Evaluation, Monitoring Engine problems
Can you let us know what version of Nagios XI and Linux platform (linux distro, version, 32/64 bit) you're using?

Re: Created Host Groups But Getting Configuration Error
Hi Ben - In order to see the offending statements, you'd have to go to the admin section of the XI interface and select the "Config snapshots" option. The latest error snapshot will contain the config file with the problems. If Nagios XI detects a config problem when you try to restart it,...

Re: Event handler Arguments
It looks like NagiosQL doesn't support command parameters being passed to host and service event handlers. We've started rewriting the Core Config Manager and I will add this as a feature request for implementation. I just opened a tracker request for it:

Re: Acknoledgement notifications.
Yes, it is possible, but we'll have to modify some scripts to make that data available in your notification messages.
