Re: creating another account in nagios core to access
The below steps are for a default set up but they are rather simple so you should be able to work it out easy enough if you've changed some stuff: htpasswd2 -c /usr/local/nagios/etc/htpasswd.users <new_username> service apache2 restart vi /usr/local/nagios/etc/cgi.cfg change the following lines: aut...

Re: Launching Multiple Nagios instances on the same server
The devs may need to correct me here as my knowledge in this area is a bit out of date. There are several reasons why you probably shouldn't run multiple instances of Nagios on a single box but there's one reason in particular why you may not be able to at all. Historically in versions 2.x and early...

Re: Monitoring remote host via Nagios Core
Boy wouldn't answering that question as it currently stands be a book and a half. :D Would you be able to narrow it down to something in particular that you are trying to monitor and which part of configuration you are unsure about? (Adding hosts, adding services, installing/configuring agents) If w...

Re: Availability reporting
Sorry I tried that first before making my original post but unfortunately it doesn't solve the problem. When you run a report on a hostgroup it still gives you the total time... currently the only way to do it is to check each host individually for unscheduled downtime. Best as I can tell there's no...

Availability reporting
Hi Guys, While running SLA reports this week we discovered that the default Nagios XI reports for availability will display all down time... not unscheduled downtime... which isn't particularly useful when doing SLA reporting. Is there an interface that would allow me to relatively easily extract un...

Re: How to assign a service group to a host group.
You are sort of on the right path... Service groups are more for tasks like complex dependencies or SLA reporting. Instead of attaching the services to a service group attach them directly to the host group, you can do this by using the hostgroup_name directive instead of host_name in your service d...

Re: check_snmp returned data conversion?
No, not really. Well... technically there is a way to do it post ingestion but it still requires scripting and is a pretty awful idea. It does sound like the solution is simpler than the problem, looks however can be deceiving. To change it though would require changing some very fundamental compone...

Re: check_snmp returned data conversion?
Instead of using check_snmp you may want to see if there is a vendor/device specific plugin on Nagios exchange, which is more likely to handle all of that sort of stuff for you. Failing that though there isn't a non-scripty way to deal with your problem. Nagios will execute a script and then take th...

Re: possible to email different groups for different service
My web host did have a brief outage yesterday while they were doing some maintenance you may have got unlucky and checked it exactly during that period
