Pull Data from Nagios from Openstack

Post by Sankarn »

Hi team,

We are unable to pull data from the Nagios running on Openstack PODs.

Whereas we are able to pull data from Nagios running on VMs ( vmware infra)

What is the background in attempting to fuse these Nagios instances? Were they reporting to the Fusion server and then stopped, or is this the first attempt to connect the Nagios instances to Fusion? Has any troubleshooting been attempted so far?

Hi mbellerue,

I am trying to fuse the nagios core on Nagios Fusion Dashboard, i am able to authenticate and core version of nagios is 3.5.1 and Fusion version is Nagios Fusion 4.

Its first instance we tried and we are able to pull data of Nagios which we use as VM , this nagios core is running on openstack rsd as PODs

Ah, there's the issue. The features needed to get information from Nagios Core into Fusion didn't come around until Nagios 4.

Could you guide me to upgrade the Nagios version 3.5.1 to nagios-4.4.5 without affecting any existing configuration.

Below is version details:
ubuntu@nagios-3:~$ which nagios3
/usr/sbin/nagios3
ubuntu@nagios-3:~$ /usr/sbin/nagios3 --help

Nagios Core 3.5.1

We have a pretty good document on this. The most important piece to this is just making sure that you've backed up your configuration files.

Be aware, however, that you're upgrading from a much older version of Nagios Core. I would not expect to be able to just restore your configuration files and have everything work. There is likely to be some syntax changes in the config files that will have to be tracked down and updated.
