Re: Bandwidth Performance Graphs Issue

Post by tgriep »

I just want to clarify the issue, the bandwidth was working for a while and then stopped only for the devices that are configures for SNMP version 3?
Make sure that the Network Switch / Router wizard if up to date by going in to the Admin > Manage Config Wizards menu and clicking on the Check for updates button to download a new list.
Then scroll down and update the wizard to the latest.
Also, can you post your /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg file so we can view it?
If you run the following command as root, you can view the errors in the /tmp/mrtg.txt file to troubleshoot this better.

Code: Select all

LANG=C LC_ALL=C /usr/bin/mrtg /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg -debug=cfg,base &> /tmp/mrtg.txt

EDIT: Please use code tags

Hello,

I executed the command time LANG=C LC_ALL=C /usr/bin/mrtg /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg.

Output:

If the device at IP address 10.10.10.1 still active? The messages suggest that the device is not active anymore.
It it is, make sure that it is setup to be polled using SNMP version 2 and that the community string is set to dpix.
If the device is not active, the config file for that device has to be removed so MRTG will not try and poll it anymore.
The config file is usually in this location on the server.

Code: Select all

/etc/mrtg/conf.d/10.10.10.1.cfg
Delete it and those messages will go away.

Hi,

Issue resolved. IP address 10.X.X.1 is active, changed community dpix to public for each interface configuration for the device.

I am getting graph now.

Thank you.

Hi,

we have two storage devices VNX & ISILON EMC vendor, Our requirement is to monitor these devices, ports UP/Downs and bandwidth utilization.

Please help us to add these devices in Nagios XI and in which category ?

If those devices have SNMP enabled to poll the network interfaces, you can see if the Network Switch / Router wizard will work for monitoring them.
If the wizard can be used for other devices besides switches and routers.
Try running that and see if they work for you.

Hi,

As suggest added ISILON device in Switch/Router wizard, device added but showing ports status as WARNING: SNMP error: No response from remote host "10.111.100.160" for all the ports.

Here we have individual IP for each port.

Showing bandwidth graph with value zero 0 IN/OUT.

Please find the attached screen shots.

Re: Bandwidth Performance Graphs Issue

The no response error is caused by either the remote device does not have SNMP enabled or that the community string is incorrect.
If you run the following command from the Nagios server, it will tell you that the SNMP port is open on that device.

Code: Select all

nmap 10.111.100.160 -p 161 -sU
If it comes back showing that the port is open, make sure the community string matches the device and the Nagios servers check command.

Hello Team,

We have installed Nagios XI on the Centos & machine with IP address 10.X.X.64, And after we changed the IP address to 10.X.X.63.

In the Emails from Nagios XI, It is showing the response with previous IP Address.

See the below output:

Respond: https://10.X.X.64/nagiosxi/rr.php?uid=1 ... 3544c7838e
Nagios URL: https://10.X.X.64/nagiosxi/

Where can we edit this file, changing to IP 10.X.X.63 ?
