tgriep wrote:There are a couple of BPI fixes in the version of XI (5.5.7) that was released a few days ago that could possibly fix the issue you are having. Try upgrading the server to the latest version and see if that resolves the issue.
- Fixed BPI service group sync to not add empty service groups that cause an error on the screen [TPS#13777] -JO
- Fixed BPI issue with the processing of subgroups applied to multiple groups failing to set proper status [TPS#13816] -JO
Applied 5.5.7 patch and got the initial BPI ERRORs back:

Can you post or PM me the BPI config file and the BPI log file to the post so we can view the settings and the errors?

Code: Select all

/usr/local/nagiosxi/etc/components/bpi.conf
/usr/local/nagiosxi/var/components/bpi.log

Can you post your objects.cache file to I can check some of the host and services?
If your server is running a nagiosramdisk, the file will be here.

Code: Select all

/var/nagiosramdisk/objects.cache
else it will be here

Code: Select all

/usr/local/nagios/var/objects.cache
Thanks

Posted. Same problems still with version 5.5.7 (just created very important APP BPI and the next config apply broke it all)
- we are having this for half a year now since 5.5.5 got applied with a promise to fix all BPI problems, but so far we cannot retain configurations and this is not right.

objects.cache attached (zipped)

Here is the error message (legit group, whihc has many objects in it in CCM):
Error: Group TC-DEV-Linux is missing arguments in configuration file
WARNING! Group: is an orphan group and will not be visible in the interface! Make this group a primary group or add it as a child to another group for it to be visible. Edit Group

Tried Editing Group, but results not getting saved with this error message: "Error: Unable to find group in config file, no changes made".

I think I fixed it (manually removed the group and created new one). Was able to re-create BPI group I already had but lost after config apply.

Made another config change and re-applied config. BPI created was there, but minutes later another "group missing arguments" error appeared.
- fixed one manually as well and keep testing what comes next

I am just checking in to see if the issue did not come back.
If so, we will need to see the objects.cache file ad well as the BPI config file and the name of the Group that is generating the error.

Thanks

Hello Tom

No, it did not. BPI groups are still operational and last influx of errors I had were arrtibuted to misconfigured or the orphaned groups

I think we could close this case now

Thank you
