Polling Suddenly Stopped Working

Postby sathevaner » Tue Jan 10, 2023 11:04 am

At 12:53 this morning, we noticed polling on hosts that are down stopped working altogether. The logs gave us no reason. There were no processes which crashed. We were unable to determine a root cause on why this happened. A restart of the Monitoring Engine fixed the issue.

If we see this issue again with the Monitoring Engine in the future, then how do we do a deeper investigation with that to determine why polling stops?

Define polling.
There's a setting in nagios.cfg that disables checking hosts that are down. See if its enabled.
I define a ping host check that other checks depend on. How do you verify a host is up?
Think about searching the internet about your question. It will give you a million possibilities in the blink of an eye.
