Hi,

We have added a lot of trap services for a host. We have a requirement from client to have a notes/ comments column to add some additional information for few services to describe what the issue is / link to report.

We tried adding the custom column component. http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Ad ... nt/details
After uploading it, we could see a notes column only in the Host Detail page. But not able to add any notes to it. We want a notes column to the Service Detail page. Is it possible ? How to add the notes to it ?

We also tried the Object Notes component. http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Ad ... nt/details
After uploading it, we can see a notes tab when we open the Host/ Service. But after adding notes to it, it doesn't display in the GUI, so not of any help to us.

Please can you let us know the best option for this requirement.

What version of XI are you using? The Object Notes component works just fine for me.

The Custom Column component was meant mostly as an example component for developers. It does indeed only add the notes for the Host Detial page, and it pulls these notes from the Notes section in the CCM. It should be possible to modify this component to work with services as well.

We are using Nagios 2012 R2.9 version. How to use the Object Notes ? We can see the Notes tab when we open a host or service, but the information saved is not displayed anywhere in the GUI. Please can you let us know how to use the Custom Column (Notes column) for services ? Right now we can see it only for Hosts. But even in Hosts we are not sure how to add information in the Notes column.

The Object Notes component displays the notes in the area in which you write them, nowhere else.

As per my last post, the Custom Column Component pulls the host note data from the Notes section under the Misc. tab in the CCM for that host. That is where you would enter your notes. It does not currently work for services, as it was meant as an example component mainly.
