Clustering XI

Post by junkertf »

Hello Support,

We need to move our XI server to a HA architecture, and at the "same step" we plan to move out from vmware to physical servers.
I had found few links, to solution about the clustering on the following links

https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... os-XI.pdf

https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... er#p281067

https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... =6&t=34200

We plan that we use the RHEL/OEL HA (failover) cluster service WITH DRBD synced Filesystem(s) to keep all the data's in sync bethween two nodes. Also our currently used IP address will we use as the service failovered IP address (somewhat a secondary IP ethx:1), so i think the currently configuration can be backed up and restored on the new node. One time only one of the nodes will be running and monitoring!

My questions:
- Can give someone for me clues what filesystems must be syncronized bethweeen the (new) nodes?
- Is there a bottleneck regarding the MySQL database, or is there a possibility to install the DB configuration to a specified FS?
- is there a more supported method for install/configure these scenario? The above links Options 2 are almost same what we think, and also in the forum links contain almost the same architecture.
- Is there some must configure to use the licence on the above mentioned IP address and NIC interface, or the XI will recognize the IP address?

Any other documentation (RTM) is appreciated.

Thank you, best regards,

Ferenc

Hello Ferenc.

If you are looking for a supported method for creating a HA Cluster with Nagios XI, I would suggest using the LINBIT solution. You can learn more about this solution and download the tech guide here:

HA Nagios XI v5 Cluster on RHEL7

Otherwise, I would recommend using a simpler method to achieve redundancy such as maintaining a backup server as described in the posts you have referenced.

Hello,

Thank you. Unfortunatelly the given link not works anymore...
After filling out the form i became the error copied here:

There was 1 error:
Thank you for your interest. This form is no longer active. Please reach out to LINBIT at [email protected], +1 877 454-6248, or +43 1 8178292 0.

Is it there any other way to have the document you've mentioned?

Thank you, best regards,

Hi Ferenc,

I just tested this as well and I'll let them know it's not working. In the meantime, I sent it over to you in an email message/PM.
