Hello @imaxglobalsupport

Thanks for following up, and based on what version you are currently running and the fact that you want to spin this up onto a fresh installed Linux.

An excellent start, let's get this thing migrated over to the same version on the fresh spun-up Linux server:
Now that the Nagios XI version 2014r1.1 running with default and you are able to access it from the web console by logging in with the 'nagiosadmin' account. We are set to go forward with the migration. And based on the System Profile we see that the database, php, Perl, and snmp are all standard and will migrate over.

I realize from your follow-up that you did not want "box" answers, but going forward recommend following the migration template that we previously sent.

No worry's though if you find that there is something wonky on the migration we are a short [submit] button away to help resolve any issues that pop-up.

Thanks,
Perry

p.s.
We're moving to a new support system!

The Nagios Answer Hub is a place where you can get help with technical questions from our experts. There, you can quickly open tickets and join discussion boards.

Request Nagios Answer Hub access here: https://info.nagios.com/answer-hub-access-new-users

After completing the access form, you will be given access to a portal where new tickets can be created. We will keep the old customer forum sections and ticket system available for current cases to be resolved.

Hello Perry and Nagios Team,

We are wondering what VM/Hardware specifications are recommended for a system with 1800+ hosts with passive checks only?

We are under the impression that if we are using passive checks we should not need to install Nagios XI on a physical server. Is this correct?

Our current specs are:

SQL Server (NagiosSQL)
4 vCPUs, 32GB RAM, 500GB disk

App Server (NagiosXI)
8 vCPUs, 16GB RAM, 1TB disk

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Regards,

Jay

Thanks for following up, with the System Profile. Sounds like your plan is to take the database export and import into the new.

Typically we recommend jumps that are no more than 6 months apart, note the release dates:

Please let us know if you have further questions,

Hello @imaxglobalsupport

Thanks for following up, looks like the specs match up to what we would typically see.

Example:

Again, if you see resource issues a bump might be required.

Thanks,
Perry
