Hi,
Recently tried to set up Event log monitoring using the wizard, and the agent that it says to install on the host doesn't work anymore - service appears to be running, but the control program can't see it. Made sure that I'm using the 64 bit version and that the required redistributables are installed. I know the agent isn't provided by Nagios themselves, but wondering if anyone has continued developing it or if there's a better way to monitor the event log on this server? (We're looking for a couple of specific event ids)
Nagios Xi 5.5.2
Host is Windows 2008 R2
Thanks,
Justine
Monitoring windows eventlogs?

Anybody?
Re: Monitoring windows eventlogs?
Hello,
Is that NSClient++ that you have installed on the Windows machine? Would it be possible to try NCPA? NCPA has a web interface that will help you build the service checks that you're looking for, including Windows Event logs. I'm not sure if Windows Server 2008 r2 is supported by the latest version of NCPA, but if it isn't, you can get previous versions of NCPA off of GitHub.

Re: Monitoring windows eventlogs?
Hi, sorry for the late reply.
Yes, we use NSclient++ on the servers. Can the two agents be run together as we'd rather not have one server using a totally different agent from everything else?
Thanks,
Justine

Hi Justine,
Yes you can have both agents running on one machine. Is your plan to install ncpa on all your machines, and
then remove the NSClient++ ?
Thanks

Re: Monitoring windows eventlogs?
No, just put it on this one machine that we need alerts based on event logs from.
