Host Status Down When Using check_xi_service_dnsquery

Post by cityofsanibel »

I used the confg wizard for a DNS Query (mysanibel.com). We have been seeing some down time for name resolution of our web site because the vendor we are using for the management of our DNS records is having some "issues". In Nagios, the check (check_xi_service_dnsquery) shows the check as failed - though the name correctly resolves, but I think that is because the webserver host does not allow pings.

How do i edit the check so that it does not try to ping the host IP address returned from the DNS lookup?

Thanks for reaching out @cityofsanibel,

You can change the default check command for the host to be check_tcp instead of the default check_ping,

Go to Configure -> CCM -> Hosts

Click on the host

Click on check_command, select check_tcp

Enter 443 into $ARG1$, save and apply configuration

Let me know if this helps
