Nagios XI - option to 'not' notify users of downtime.

Post by yo_marc »

Hi Nagios folks,

Would it be possible to add an option to Nagios XI so that when we schedule downtime, we can choose to not notify the contacts? Similar to how we can (what I call) silently acknowledge alerts.

This would be helpful on some of our servers where we have many many service checks setup. Servers with lots of filesystems, endpoints, etc. Contacts get sent lots of emails when downtime starts and ends. Not to mention, our team tends to rely on different methods of communicating outages, so we don't need to rely on downtime messages.

Thanks,
-marc

Hi Marc,

Thanks for input, I will let the development team know of your request. Please keep in mind that the decision to implement the enhancement is at the discretion of our development team.

In the meantime, if desired, you could disable the notification option under Alert Settings for host and services in the Core Configuration Manager.
As of May 25th, 2018, all communications with Nagios Enterprises and its employees are covered under our new Privacy Policy.
