Nagios support 10k servers for monitoring

Post by kaur.lucky80 »

Hi All,
Please suggest if Nagios can support 10 k servers & storage devices for monitoring.
Also does it support integration with SNOW , OMI, IBM Directorty and HP SIM from Nagios.

Regards

When talking about a scale that large, it's hard to give a definitive answer. It also depends on whether or not you're referring to Nagios Core or Nagios XI, what sort of checks you're running, are they interpreted, compiled, need to wait, active, passive, etc. Lots of factors influence performance in a meaningful way on a scale like that.

If configured properly, both applications should be able to handle that. Though you'd really be pushing most physical/virtual machines to their limits with that many checks. It might make more sense to organize this setup in a distributed or hierarchical fashion. If you were looking at Nagios XI, you could schedule a complementary quickstart and have a tech take a look at your environment to give better answers:

We only do quickstarts for our proprietary products though. We do not do them for the open source Nagios Core.

We have documentation for several integrations. If you could tell me specifically what you wanted to integrate with, I might be able to give a more specific answer.
