nrpe debug shows #012 or #020#036qk#177

Hi, it's red hat or OL version 6.8 running NRPE 2.15
The NRPE debug is enabled and I am tailing a log, and I see lines like
nrpe[22266]: Connection from #020#036qk▒#177 closed.
Q1
How to understand #020...? On other "normal" hosts it's just blank, the example is:
nrpe[22612]: Connection from closed.
Q2:
I troubleshoot why one of my check_nrpe exits with 1, even command seems to complete successfully. The command creates a temp file, and nrpe log reads that temp file has #012 where blank space is to be.
Appreciate any ideas to understand why is this ?
