Hello dwithfield

Sorry for confusing ...

I tried to update the os version on 14.04
Codename: trusty
and there was no improvement for the snmp issue.

Besides i setup a new nagios .. and you're right i would like to figure out but it's still some curiosity with the old one and to bridge over till the new one works correctly .... but i can live without that .. i have to look

through manually from time to time

so feel free to close the thread if you want.

Thanks for your awsome support

regards john

We don't need to close until it is resolved.

It is still a little unclear to me how you are installing. Are you installing Nagios from the Ubuntu repos or building from source? If from source, from where are you getting the source?

Thanks!

Did you get the source from Sourceforge, our site, or github? I'm just trying to make sure you didn't get a source package someone else is wrapping up.

While we don't directly support OMD, you will certainly find users of OMD on this forum. I've never used it myself. Perhaps someone else on the forum can jump in and let you know how it is working for them.

It comes from the source directly from your website. So no modificiations by criminals seems propable.

Ok good to know .. thanks for the info

Not worried by criminals so much as different file paths. :)

If you are looking at a different setup, I would really suggest moving to Nagios Core 4.x. You can see all of the enhancements and security fixes at https://www.nagios.org/projects/nagios-core/history/4x/. Instructions for the latest version can be found at https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... buntu.html

Looking at http://omdistro.org/changelogs, it seems like the nagios-plugins they are using are quite old. That isn't to say they won't work, but you may need to do some manual updating if you want the latest features.

If you are bringing in the CEO, you might as well bring up https://www.nagios.com/products/nagios-xi/. Because of the way we do licensing the price ends up being a lot less than our competitors.

One thing to keep in mind before going too far with XI though, we only support installs on CentOS and Red Hat.
