Nagios Second user with notification disable/enable privilag

Post by suresh.ramasamy »

Hi

Am running Nagios Core (configured from source code).

I want to have secondary Web user and this user should have only for the privilege to disable and enable the notifications. Is it an option?

Hi @suresh.ramasamy,

Currently, there isn't a way to specifically do that. Given the information and testing I've done on my own Core I can only do read-only access for new users. Also, I can give the option for the new user to enable/disable notifications, but the user can also do any service commands - which is not what you asked.

You can create a new Feature Request for Core by going to https://github.com/NagiosEnterprises/na ... issues/new
It may or may not be created, but it doesn't hurt to throw in a request if like.

In, the upcoming XI 6.0 there is a "New user permission system with more granular, well-defined permissions" which is always a good option to wait for.

Just for clarity, I'm not aware if there are any changes in Core that are needed to facilitate this. Since all the source is available, you could modify it yourself to do this.

This is the only feature request I could find that was really relevant, but it suggests there is already some thinking about granularity: https://github.com/NagiosEnterprises/na ... issues/375
